Less than an inch of October rain worsens drought

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – October 2025 is in the books and once again, a lack of rainfall is the biggest headline. No improvement in the drought was observed; in fact, it is even worse now as the winter months approach…

Study shows value of local meteorologists

Looking first at the precipitation numbers, measurable rainfall was only observed on six days in October in Fort Wayne. Incredibly, this is an improvement from last October, when only three days of measurable rainfall occurred. However, the final total of 0.77 inches is over two inches below average and places October 2025 as the 11th driest October on record, with weather records dating back to 1897. Most of the month’s rainfall happened on one day, October 19th, when 0.59 inches were recorded. No snow fell this October.
