The City of Fort Wayne and the Department of Planning Services have started rezoning efforts along East State Boulevard. The affected area is between Spy Run Avenue and Parnell Street, and from Kentucky to Florida Drive. The city held discussions with residents and business owners before making this decision. The goal is to replace current zoning rules with new guidelines that support walkable neighborhoods. The new zoning allows small shops at street level with apartments above. It does not support large retail stores or gas stations.
