Indiana coroner, police officer charged with strangulation and domestic battery

BLUFFTON, Ind. (WANE) – The Wells County Coroner, who also works as a Bluffton police officer, is facing Level 6 felony counts of strangulation and pointing a firearm stemming from a domestic battery incident that happened last week at a Bluffton home.

Indiana State Police arrested Clifford Thomas, 49, on Monday without incident.

Thomas is accused of battering someone on Nov. 6 while off duty, according to a release from the Indiana State Police. Booked into Wells County Jail, Thomas was listed as an inmate there as of late Monday afternoon, though his mugshot was not available…
