Fort Wayne, IN – The Fort Wayne Police Department is alerting residents after the FBI successfully dismantled a large-scale international fraud ring accused of targeting elderly victims across the U.S., including Indiana.
According to federal investigators, the criminal organization operated out of the Dominican Republic and was responsible for the widespread “Grandparent Scam.” In this scheme, suspects allegedly called victims pretending to be a grandchild or family member in legal trouble, urging them to send bail money immediately.
