Downtown Fort Wayne staple Pint & Slice announces closure

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A staple of downtown Fort Wayne announced Monday it will be permanently closing its doors by the end of the year.

816 Pint & Slice said in a Facebook post the increased cost of running the restaurant is the reason for the closure after nearly two decades. The last day to get a slice from the pizza joint will be Dec. 31.

Food costs have roughly doubled in recent years, and the math just isn’t workable anymore for a small, family-run, handmade kitchen like ours. So we’ve made the tough but proud choice to close up shop on our own terms, with our standards high and our chins up.”

Located at 816 Calhoun St., the restaurant prides itself on being one of the first establishments to frequently draw customers to that part of town, before murals, lights and many of the current local businesses moved in to attract visitors daily…
