Shelter in Place order lifted following nitric acid spill east of downtown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — An emergency alert was sent out just after 1 p.m. Tuesday after a chemical leak was reported just east of downtown.

According to the Fort Wayne Fire Department, roughly 350 gallons of nitric acid spilled at Webb Chemical, located in the 700 block of Hayden Street.

Webb Chemical provided in a press release stating that their warehouse facility on Hayden Street sells nitric acid to other companies in order for them to make fertilizer or treat wastewater…
