FireKeepers continues holiday tradition, donates 2,600 turkeys in Michigan, Indiana

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — FireKeepers Casino Hotel is kicking off the holidays with a major boost to families in need, donating 2,600 turkeys to food banks across Michigan and northern Indiana.

In all, about 200 turkeys were donated to each of the following regional food banks for Thanksgiving, according to officials on Monday:

  • Community Harvest Food Bank located in Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank located in Comstock Park, Mich.
  • Food Gatherers located in Ann Arbor, Mich.
  • Greater Lansing Food Bank located in Lansing, Mich.

Another 1,500 turkeys were also donated to Southwest Michigan Food Bank to support local families, and 300 more will be donated to The Kendall Street Pantry in December to help those in need during the Christmas season.

“Giving back to the community is a foundational value at FireKeepers,” FireKeepers Casino Hotel CEO Frank Tecumseh said. “We know the holidays can be difficult for many families, and this donation is one way we can help support our neighbors and ensure more households can share a meaningful mean with loved ones.”

In addition to donating turkeys, Firekeepers Casino Hotel is set to host two complimentary Thanksgiving meals on Thursday, ensuring families have a chance to enjoy the holiday meal.
