Fort Wayne Police Deploy Tactical Units to Resolve Domestic Disturbance on Wildwood Avenue

A domestic disturbance call in Fort Wayne led to a significant police response earlier this week when officers were unable to make immediate contact with the inhabitants of a home on Wildwood Avenue. In a statement released by Sgt. John Nichter, Public Information Officer, it was reported that the Fort Wayne Police Department had received a 911 call originating from the 1100 block of the said avenue.

Initial attempts to communicate with the occupants were unfruitful, spurring concerns for the safety of those inside. An individual, whose condition became a focal point of the police’s attention, was found to be in distress and seemingly unable to leave the premises on their own. The necessity of heightened tactical support brought the FWPD Emergency Services Team, along with the Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit to the location. “Negotiators are attempting to make contact with the occupants to exit the house safely,” states the release.
