FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – It’s been four months since the Indiana cigarette tax went up, and state health experts said fewer Hoosiers are lighting up.
Executive Director and Coalition Coordinator at Tobacco Free Allen County, Nancy Cripe, said she noticed more people asking for information on how to quit smoking since the summer. That’s when the almost three-dollar cigarette tax went into effect.
Cripe also said even though many different factors go into the decreasing number of smokers statewide, she believes the recent tax hike could be one of the reasons why. She predicts smoking will have a continuous downward trend…
