FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – It’s a First Alert Weather Day this morning as snowy roads will slow down your early drive and are already causing some school delays and closings. Snow will exit early this morning, but it may take a few hours for crews to catch up on cleaning up roads. We’re live this morning from 5-7 am with morning reporter Ryan Costello in the 21Alive Stormtracker to give you updates on road conditions!
Another round of snow will come tomorrow. We’ll be dry for the start of Wednesday, but scattered snow showers will pick up in the evening and at night. Up to and under 1″ of snow is expected from this next round, so snow totals don’t look to be too impressive.
WATCHING: We are keeping an eye on Friday and may need to issue a First Alert Weather Day due to bitter cold wind chills in the morning. Wind chills could range as low as -10 to -18 degrees. In fact, we look to get very close to a record cold temperature that day that we’ll have to keep an eye on. That type of bitter cold will mean bus stop conditions could be hazardous depending on how long kids are outside. The frostbite risk times will shorten when dropping this low, and any delays will need to be monitored. We’ll keep you updated as we get into our ‘higher resolution’ data in order to see if the wind chill projections will maintain this very cold outlook…
