Allen County moves forward with treatment center remodel, using opioid settlement funds

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Allen County Commissioners voted Friday to move ahead with plans to support a major remodel for Adult and Teen Challenge, a long-term residential treatment center aimed at helping men overcome substance abuse.

The project, supported through opioid settlement funds from Allen County Council, is part of the county’s broader strategy to address addiction and reduce the strain it places on public safety and social systems.

Commissioner Ron Turpin emphasized that opioid addiction remains a critical issue within the county. Allen County receives about $300,000 annually in federal opioid settlement dollars and currently has roughly $1.2 million available.
