FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Trailing 44-29 at halftime, Purdue Fort Wayne rallied back with a 79-77 win over Northern Kentucky to earn the Mastodons’ first Horizon League win of the season.
The Mastodons opened the second half of a 24-3 run. A corner three from Ebrahim Kaba put Purdue Fort Wayne in front, 49-47, with 14:17 left in regulation. Purdue Fort Wayne grew that lead as large as eight points midway through the second half before Northern Kentucky punched back.
The Norse tied the game at 74-74 with a pair of free throws from LJ Wells with 1:23 remaining. On Purdue Fort Wayne’s next possession, DeAndre Craig nailed a mid-range jumper with 57 seconds left to put the Mastodons in front for good.
