FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)— Nearly three weeks into the Salvation Army’s 2025 Red Kettle Campaign, the organization said they need more volunteers and donations to meet their goal.
Dena Smith, core officer at the Fort Wayne Salvation Army, said it’s not just about the need for volunteers. But they also need donors to put money in the kettles. This year, the weather has proven to be an obstacle for them, according to Smith.

“Because of the weather, illness, things like that, we’ve had a lot of volunteers that have canceled,” Smith said. “And unmanned kettles do not bring in money.”
In 2025, the campaign has a fundraising goal of $200,000. That money funds programming throughout the year at the Salvation Army, not just in the winter…
