Exclusive look behind-the-scenes at Fort Wayne Zoo’s new African Veldt barn

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Construction is well underway on a new barn in the African Journey for the birds and hoofstock seen on the Veldt. It’s beyond the giraffe habitat.

Wild on WANE got an exclusive look behind the scenes at the construction so far and the plans for when it’s finished.

Construction prep on the area started in March with the official groundbreaking on the 17,000 square-foot building in April.

The current barn, which is almost 9,000 square feet, was built in the 1970s as part of the original African Journey development…
