FWPD honors recruit killed in training exercise in 1987

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — On Wednesday, the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) honored a fallen recruit who died during a training exercise in Michigan on this day in 1987.

The officer, Omega Graham, was accidentally shot with a .38-caliber handgun during the exercise, which involved a landlord-tenant dispute scenario. The training took place at Fort Custer Training Center near Battle Creek, Michigan.
