FWPD unions see high 3% raise among city employees

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — While most of the city saw a 1.5% or 2% raise in a lean budget year, the unions that represent the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) were able to negotiate a 3% raise for their officers.

The city, however, did not have to pony up the extra cash when Fort Wayne City Council approved the new union contracts last night.

Instead, the Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council (FOPLC), the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) and the FWPD devised an internal solution to provide the extra 1.5%…
