FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The man who was found guilty of murder in connection with the shooting that occurred at the gentleman’s club Showgirl I has received his sentence.
Thursday, 28-year-old Breshawn Smith was sentenced to 87 years in prison. Smith was found guilty a little over a month ago of murder, two counts of attempted murder, criminal recklessness, and using a firearm in the commission of a crime.
If he had been handed the maximum sentence, he would have been sentenced to over 100 years in prison.
Two men arrested in connection to Showgirl I shooting
His charges stem from a shooting that took place in November of 2024, when he and his accomplice, William Tolbert, drove a vehicle through the parking lot of the gentleman’s club.
Smith fired his weapon into the crowd standing outside of the club, killing Marialuz Margarita Munoz and injuring two others in November of 2024.
31-year-old Tolbert was sentenced to 12 years in prison in late November after pleading guilty to aiding aggravated battery, which resulted in charges of murder and two counts of attempted murder being dropped at the sentencing…
