FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Indiana high school seniors and college students aiming for a teaching career can now apply for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, as announced by Allen County lawmakers.
State Rep. Martin Carbaugh said the scholarship, established in 2016, offers $10,000 annually for up to four years to students who commit to teaching in Indiana for at least five years. “The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship reduces financial barriers for students who want to teach and make a difference in their communities,” Carbaugh said.
State Rep. Dave Heine highlighted that the scholarship is available to students graduating from accredited or non-accredited Indiana high schools. Applicants must rank in the top 20% of their class, have a top 20% ACT or SAT score, or maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. “By empowering future educators to follow their calling, this scholarship helps them turn their passion into a career,” Heine said…
