Fire breaks out in apartment complex on the northeast side of Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A fire broke out in a building located in an apartment complex on the northeast side of Fort Wayne from a candle left unattended.

Reports of the fire, located in the 5500 block of Old Dover Boulevard within the Canterbury Green apartment complex, came in just after 6 p.m. Friday.

While approaching the building, fire crews could see a smoky haze emitting from the front door. The fire reportedly came from a first-floor bedroom, where a candle was left unattended.

No one was severely injured from the fire, and all occupants of the building were able to escape safely. Fire crews managed to get the blaze under control within 15 minutes of the 911 call…
