FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Indiana lawmakers are considering a proposal to move the Rising Sun casino to Fort Wayne or another site in Allen County. Senate Bill 70, introduced by Sens. Justin Busch and Randy Maxwell, would allow this relocation if the Indiana Gaming Commission approves and local officials support it.
The bill requires the current Ohio County casino to close, pay a $25 million relocation fee, and invest at least $500 million in a new casino and amenities in Allen County over five years. If the license is sold within 10 years, another $50 million fee would be owed to the state.
A fiscal analysis estimates the relocated casino could generate $200 million to $230 million annually in adjusted gross receipts, drawing 1.7 million to 2.2 million visitors. The state could see a net gain of about $42.5 million a year in wagering taxes, plus $25 million from initial fees…
