Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) — Thousands of stray cats in Fort Wayne are braving dangerously cold winter weather, and animal officials are urging residents to help protect them.
Tyna Reiter, Community Outreach and Humane Education Specialist PIO with Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control (FWACC), says the city sees an influx of stray cats during the winter months, with many turned in by concerned residents.
“Some actually develop frostbite pretty quickly, I would say within 30 minutes or so, if they are directly in the elements. So, if there is nothing protecting them and they’re just stuck outside, nowhere to hide, that can happen pretty quickly,” she said…
