FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)– local Jamaican restaurant is giving back to the community on Christmas Day by offering free meals to anyone in need.
Pepper and Spice Jamaican Restaurant, along with Bog Walk Fried Chicken, is hosting the giveaway with a focus on helping people in the surrounding area, including those experiencing homelessness.
“Today is Christmas Day, and here at Pepper and Spice and Bog Wok Fried Chicken, we’re giving away free meals to the community,” Isabella Haraguchi, the restaurant’s social media manager said. “There are a lot of homeless people in this area, and the owner wanted to give back on Christmas Day.”
The giveaway is set to begin at 3 p.m. and will continue until supplies run out. Organizers say about 300 meals were served last year and expect similar numbers this year.
