Downed trees close portion of U.S. 24, Berry Street near downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Fort Wayne dispatchers say downed trees have closed a portion of U.S. 24 and Berry Street near downtown as strong winds move through the area.

Dispatchers say a downed tree was reported on U.S. 24 around 8:30 a.m. The tree is blocking both lanes of eastbound U.S. 24, causing a closure between Hamilton and Homestead Roads.

Just before 9 a.m., two trees were reported to be blocking the intersection of Berry and Francis Streets.

Dispatch says the intersection will be closed until the trees are removed…
