First Alert Forecast: Flurries ending, but New Year’s Eve brings another round

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Despite a few light flurries this morning, we get a bit of a break from snow today… but another round of snow arrives on New Year’s Eve. Here’s what you need to know for your NYE plans.

Today: Morning Flurries Wrapping Up

A few flurries are still possible this morning as the lake effect stream winds down. The good news? Highways and main roads are in good shape. However, if you’re heading north, take it slow — some secondary roads are still snowy and slick spots are possible. Rural roads may have some snow drifts that you’ll need to be cautious of as well.

Even though winds aren’t as strong as yesterday, expect it to stay breezy with gusts up to 25 mph from the west. Bundle up if you’re heading outside. Wind chills will be in the single-digits for most of the day.

Tonight: Light Snow, Just a Dusting

A few more light flurries could sweep through tonight, but don’t expect much. We’re only looking at a trace to half inch of snow at most.

New Year’s Eve: Another Quick Snow

Another brief snow system arrives Wednesday afternoon and will be the main event for your New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Expect 1-2 inches of snow across 21Country from Wednesday afternoon into the early evening. The majority of the snow should wrap up by 8 or 9 p.m., giving you time to get your New Year’s plans…
