There’s always something new at Fort Wayne Museum of Art, where pieces from their vast collections are always being rotated into view and touring exhibits inspire visitors with new images and ideas.
The museum’s staff designs displays that are always open and airy, and nothing here ever gathers dust. It’s a great place to bring your family or to visit alone, to contemplate the beauty created by artists who reflect the natural world and the abstract.
I spoke with Charles Shepard, CEO of the museum for more than 20 years, about what you can see in 2026 and beyond.
Looking glass
While the FWMoA features the works of artists in a range of media, its centerpiece is studio glass, a worldwide movement in sculpture blending technology and art. I hope you’ve seen photos and videos of pieces in the Glass Wing, but you really need to visit in person to see the sparkling, dazzling kaleidoscopes of color and shape.
