Fort Wayne’s Pufferbelly Trail bridge over Coliseum construction set for 2026

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Officials in Fort Wayne are moving forward with plans to start building a pedestrian bridge over Coliseum Boulevard in 2026, designed to carry the Pufferbelly Trail across one of the northeast Indiana’s busiest roads.

The bridge, named the Vann Family Crossing, is slated for construction by this time next year. This is contingent on permits and approvals from the Indiana Department of Transportation. The project has received a $5 million donation from Jim Vann and the Vann Family Foundation, according to the city’s project page.

The “Golden Spike” section of the Pufferbelly Trail, between Washington Center Road and Ice Way, was unveiled earlier this month, with the bridge area as the trail gap linking much fo North Fort wayne and Huntertown to the downtown River Greenway system…
