Fort Wayne teen now charged as adult for role in life-threatening shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A teenager is now being charged as an adult for his alleged role in a shooting last year that left a man in life-threatening condition.

According to Allen Superior Court documents filed Monday, Essix Robinson Jr. faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and burglary in connection to a shooting on Fort Wayne’s south side Aug. 23, 2025.

That night, a man was found with a gunshot wound in the 4400 block of Bowser Avenue. He was taken to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

Essix was 14 at the time; police suspected him of involvement alongside a 13-year-old. Homicide detectives took the two teens into custody days after the shooting. Their identities had not been released because they had not been charged as adults at the time…
