FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)— Fort Wayne homicide detectives turned to Crime Stoppers to run a television PSA about a fatal 2018 shooting. Crimestoppers said any tip may lead to an arrest.
On the afternoon of Feb. 20, 2018, police and medics were called to an apartment at 4917 Northcrest Drive, inside the Northcrest Apartments complex, on an unknown problem at the apartment. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man shot inside one of the four apartments in the building. 24-year-old Shaquille Jovon Rancefer of Fort Wayne died. The death was ruled a homicide.

At the time, police said they had no suspect information. While it’s unclear if there are any suspects in 2026, eight years later, no arrest has been made.
“It’s painful,” Rancefer’s mother, Abigail Banks, said. “His life was taken away from him at home. He wasn’t on the street, wasn’t fighting.”…
