FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – While cases of the flu and COVID-19 typically increase this time of year, this particular bout has led local hospitals to take precautions to mitigate the spread.
Parkview Health is putting visitor restrictions into place temporarily due to a rise in emergency room and clinic visits for respiratory issues, the Allen County Department of Health shared Thursday. No visitors age 12 or younger are allowed; each patient can have no more than two visitors at a time; and all visitors are encouraged to wear masks.
Visitation restrictions are similar to those implemented in years past, and hospitals could have additional or different restrictions in certain departments or specialties as needed, the health department explained.
