Teen pleads guilty to role in shooting after 4th of July downtown fireworks show

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — One of the teens arrested in connection with the shooting that took place after this past summer’s Fourth of July fireworks show has pleaded guilty to one of the charges against him.

18-year-old Ni’Shawn Jackson was charged with attempted murder and two counts of criminal recklessness. He entered into a plea agreement at the end of December, and if a judge accepts it, he will have the attempted murder charge dropped as well as one count of criminal recklessness.

In the early morning hours of July 5, just after firework celebrations in downtown Fort Wayne, investigators determined Jackson and another teenager fired weapons at a group of teens, injuring three and killing one. The shooting took place in the area of Harrison and Pearl streets…
