Karen community celebrates the Karen New Year

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Karen New Year is a cultural celebration from the country of Myanmar that traditionally marks the end of the rice harvest.

Pastor Soe Moe said it’s also a way for family and friends to come together.

“It’s just like Thanksgiving, all after the harvest ends, and everybody is available, and they all come together to celebrate the new year,” he said…
