‘Tell him what he took’: Zent family testifies on SB 9, victim impact statements

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The fight for Senate Bill 9 continues as it was passed unanimously, 9-0, by the Corrections and Criminal Law Committee on Tuesday morning.

This bill would require defendants to be in the courtroom while victim impact statements are being read.

Senate Bill 9 stems from those who were impacted by the 2021 killing of 26-year-old mother Sarah Zent and her children, 5-year-old Carter Zent, three-year-old Ashton Zent, and two-year-old Aubree Zent.
