Southern Wells weighing move to leave ACAC for Mid-Eastern Conference

PONETO, Ind. (WANE) – Since 1971, Southern Wells has served as one of the longest-running current members of the Allen County Athletic Conference.

After more than 50 years, the Raiders appear to be heading to another conference. Southern Wells announced earlier this month that the school has received an official invite to join the Mid-Eastern Conference (MEC). The MEC currently consists of 10 schools between Delaware, Henry, Hancock and Randolph counties. However, the conference is losing Eastern Hancock and Shenandoah to the newly formed Eastern Crossroads Conference.

If approved, Southern Wells’ departure would drop the ACAC’s membership from seven to six schools…
