Verizon completes acquisition of Frontier Communications

(WANE) Verizon is once again offering fiber internet services in Fort Wayne with the completion of its acquisition of Frontier Communications. Verizon announced its plans to acquire Frontier back in 2024 and the deal was officially completed earlier this week.

Frontier will now be called “Frontier, a Verizon Company.” In an email to customers, Frontier noted that nothing about current service is changing.

It was Verizon that chose Fort Wayne to be one of the first communities in the country to get a fiber optic network for telephone, internet and TV back in the early 2000’s under the name FiOS. Verizon then sold the network to Frontier several years later so it could focus on its cellular communications business…
