FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A major winter storm will move through the area today. This is a highly unusual weather situation for our area because heavy snow rarely falls when temperatures are so cold here. Steady snow is expected through the afternoon and ending this evening. The heaviest snow will fall midday. Up to 10 inches is possible well southeast of Fort Wayne and Allen County. Lower amounts likely to the northwest of Fort Wayne.
Expect difficult drive conditions. Wind could cause some blowing snow. Windchill will also be an issue. NE wind to 20 MPH may make it feel like 5 below at times.
