Man handed 6 years after attempting to steal $1,000 dog

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A man has been sentenced to six years of home detention and probation after pleading guilty in connection with the attempt to steal a purebred husky.

James Steele was initially charged with one count of burglary and one count of residential entry in connection with this case. Steele was also charged with another burglary count and another residential entry count, as well as a misdemeanor criminal mischief count in relation to another case.

Courts decided to combine the two cases to allow Steele to enter into a plea agreement. As part of the agreement, Steele pleaded guilty to one of his felony burglary charges, and all other charges were dismissed…
