Homestead boys cruise to IHSAA swimming sectional title

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – For the third time in four seasons, Homestead boys swimming is taking home a sectional title following a strong showing at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium on Saturday.

The Spartans finished with a team score of 509, topping runner-up Carroll. The Chargers earned a team score of 387, with Bishop Dwenger finishing third in the team standings.

Homestead won nearly every event throughout the day. IU Indianapolis commit Hayden Lynam won sectional titles in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard freestyle. Logan Poswinski, another IU Indy commit, won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Daniel Jones dominated in the 500-yard freestyle, Jackson Pyle won the 100-yard backstroke and Josiah Collins won the 100-yard breaststroke. Meanwhile, Homestead’s relay teams won the 200-yard medley, along with the 200- and 400-yard freestyle.
