Construction on West Jefferson Boulevard near Jefferson Pointe expected to last three months

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Construction is underway on West Jefferson Boulevard near Jefferson Pointe, and drivers should expect intermittent lane restrictions for the next three months.

The project involves city utilities installing a new water main. Lane restrictions will run from Ardmore to Taylor — just past the Best Buy and a nearby office park. The construction is expected to run through March, April and May.

“This section of pipe has experienced significant breaks in recent years. Those failures resulted in large volumes of water entering the roadway and, during colder months, created icy conditions that affected traffic and safety,” City Utilities said in a news release.

About 29,000 vehicles use this section of Jefferson Boulevard each day.
