Teen charged as adult for role in robbery-turned-shooting in Fort Wayne neighborhood

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A teenager was booked into jail Monday after being accused of involvement in a shooting last month that left a boy in life-threatening condition.

Kevin Villegas Castillo, 17, is charged as an adult and faces a Level 2 felony count of armed robbery resulting in serious injury in connection to a Feb. 21 shooting in a northeast Fort Wayne neighborhood.

The night of the shooting, security footage from a home on Tanbark Lane near Maplecrest and Rothman roads showed a boy leave the house and approach a car that pulled up, according to Allen Superior Court documents. Just one minute later, the car leaves and the boy is seen falling to the ground in the street.

The boy was able to call 911 and emergency crews found him with multiple gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized in life-threatening condition…
