Driver and child escape injury after SUV veers off I-69 and onto bridge over interstate in DeKalb County

WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE) A driver and his 4-year-old child were lucky to avoid serious injuries following a crash early Wednesday afternoon in DeKalb County.

The driver was heading north on I-69 approaching the US 6 overpass near Waterloo when he fell asleep according to a press release from the Waterloo Marshals Department.

The SUV veered off the road and drove up the grassy area between the northbound lanes and the northbound exit to US 6 before coming to rest on top of the bridge guard rail facing east.

While the driver and child were not hurt, medics did arrive on the scene as a precaution…
