Tornadoes confirmed in Wells, Jay Counties following Wednesday morning storms

(WANE) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes occurred in Wells and Jay Counties in the early morning storms on Wednesday.

According to a press release, the tornadoes touched down near Vera Cruz in Wells County and Powers in Jay County. Both tornadoes reached a peak wind speed of 80 miles per hour.

In Vera Cruz, the tornado formed in an open field just southwest of the CR S 600 E and E 350 S intersection. As it moved northeast, it damaged a pole barn, tearing off its roof and walls. The debris from this barn was thrown into another pole barn…
