AVILLA, Ind. (WFFT) – The Avilla Town Council is preparing for litigation against Avilla Clerk-Treasurer Rita Grocock.
The town council voted to authorize the initiation of legal proceedings at Wednesday’s council meeting. They are seeking Grocock’s removal from office due to her neglect or inability to perform the clerk-treasurer’s duties, citing Indiana Code 5-8-1-35.
According to the council, Grocock has not shown up for work since June of 2025. The town claims that Grocock declared medical leave on June 23, 2025.
