FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – As the executive director for Blessings in a Backpack, Jama Ross has impacted those she serves in more ways than she ever thought was possible. Through feeding, sustaining and engaging in the community.
“Every child deserves the basic human dignity of food,” said Ross. “We’re looking at about 75% of kids in Fort Wayne Community Schools that are food insecure.”
For Jama, this hits close to home. Once a single mother, she is now helping other families through the struggles she once faced.
“I went through the exact same thing,” said Ross. “I never signed up for assistance, I did everything I could to avoid it, and I struggled, I suffered.”…
