Teen charged in Travelers Inn shooting takes plea deal

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – An 18-year-old Fort Wayne woman is taking a plea deal in a December shooting at the Travelers Inn.

Jamya Nelson was charged with attempted murder alongside 28-year-old Alonta Walker in the shooting that left a person hurt. Walker was also charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Nelson’s plea agreement calls for her to plead guilty to aggravated battery in exchange for her attempted murder charge being dismissed. It leaves her sentence up to Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent at a July hearing…
