Opposition Grows To Proposed Allen County Quarry Development

FORT WAYNE — Concerns are mounting over a proposed industrial development in southwest Allen County, with residents, school officials and health leaders raising objections as the project enters early review stages.

The 1,600-acre mixed-use site south of US 24, north of Ernst Road, west of I-69, and east of Aboite Road would include a limestone quarry, concrete plant and asphalt facility. Critics argue the scale and industrial nature of the development could significantly alter the surrounding area and discourage future residential growth, potentially affecting local tax revenues.
