Allen County EMA warns residents to steer clear of high rivers amid Flood Warning

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Allen County Office of Emergency Management is warning residents to stay away from high rivers after heavy rainfall created dangerous conditions across the county.

Department director Bernie Beier says to expect rivers in the area to remain high through the weekend, saying no one should be in or near the rivers. He says the high and fast-moving waters are dangerous, urging residents to choose safety first.

“Stay out of the Maumee River. Water is flowing at 19K fps, making the current very fast, high, and dangerous. Tree limbs and woody debris create ‘strainers’ which can trap and kill you. Stay safe during flood conditions.”…
