FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Friday, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic is celebrating the official opening of its new venue downtown.
The Philharmonic Center is located at 826 Ewing Street. Its grand opening was commemorated with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning, to be followed by a performance in the evening.
At 7:30 p.m., Jodie DeSalvo will grace the Phil Center stage. The Fort Wayne native is a nationally recognized pianist who has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
The Ewing Street venue has a history of occupants preceding the musicians. It formerly housed the Chamber of Commerce and the Woman’s Club. Now with a 200-seat capacity, the building will play host to performances, community programming and private events…
