‘Desperately needed’: First DeKalb County Animal Control officer, sheriff recounts busy first year

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – The DeKalb County Sheriff says the area’s animal welfare is improving thanks to its first and only Animal Control Officer.

“It’s something that was hugely, desperately needed here,” said Michelle Bobay with Shadarobah Horse Rescue.

“It’s been absolutely phenomenal,” said Sheriff Brady Thomas. “We’ve been able to offer assistance to the deputies when they go out and handle calls and other law enforcement agencies. We knew she’d be helpful, but we never imagined how beneficial that position could have been or the number of things that position has been able to uncover.”…
