Deacs add Former Texas Tech Right-Hander Connor Mohan

Wake Forest added another power four transfer to their incoming class on Friday as former Texas Tech right-handed pitcher Connor Mohan committed to Head Coach Tom Walter and Pitching Coach Eric Niesen.

Mohan hails from Burleson, Texas, and while he never saw a surplus of strong results pitching for the Red Raiders, he’s got some intriguing stuff that Niesen and Pitching Lab Director Ezra Bye may be able to turn to gold. He flashes a high-velocity fastball that’s crept up into the mid-to-upper 90’s, with a strong slider that generates a fair amount of swing-and-miss heading up his five-pitch mix.

He had a 10.94 ERA in 15 appearances in 2026, but he did start 10 games including five Big 12 matchups. Home runs were one of his most significant issues, giving up 16 of them in 38.2 innings. 26.7% of his fly balls ended up as home runs, but if the Deacon coaching staff can get that percentage down (albeit in a difficult ballpark to do so), Mohan has the talent to be a key piece of the pitching staff in 2027…
