NORTH TEXAS — A much-needed soaking is on the way for North Texas, with rain expected from late Wednesday through Friday. Many locations should pick up 1 to 2 inches, while some areas could see 3 to 4 inches or more, including isolated 4-inch totals near the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Isolated flash flooding is possible, but for most of the region, this rain will be a huge benefit after a long dry stretch.
Rain Starts Late Wednesday West of the Metroplex
Rain is expected to begin late Wednesday across areas west of the Metroplex before slowly moving east. The system is not expected to rush through, which will allow rain to fall steadily over a longer period.
That slow movement is good news for dry soils, giving the ground a better chance to absorb the water. Rain will continue in rounds through Thursday and Friday across much of North Texas.
Metroplex Could See 1 to 3 Inches or More
The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, along with areas near Lake Kiowa and Paris, is forecast to see 1 to 3 inches or more of rain. Isolated totals of 4 inches or higher are possible, especially from the Metroplex south toward Thurber and Italy.
Areas near Waco and across central Texas are also in line for a good soaking. Rainfall amounts will vary, and some neighborhoods could see much more than others depending on where the heaviest storms set up.
